Sheepie Card

Good morning! Today is one of my sweet nieces birthdays - her SECOND actually! Still hard to believe how the time has flown. Here is the card I made for her using some previously released stamps from Simon Says Stamp - there's a bit of a story to it if you read on! :)

We celebrated last night, and totally managed to nail the perfect gift! Since she was itty bitty, her favorite stuffed animal has been a little stuffed "sheepie" that she carries everywhere, and it has been WELL loved, and kind of worn out, although Mommy has managed to rework it a bit to make it last longer! As we were shopping yesterday, we found a SUPER cuddly, and HUGE sheepie! I wasn't sure how she would feel about it - and I didn't want to replace her beloved stuffed animal, but I think the picture speaks for itself:

Oh man...that picture totally melts my heart every time I look at it! Love that little girl! The little sheep from Melody's Easter was perfect! I colored it up, and added a little flower from the same set to make it a bit more girlie!

For the card I started by blending some distress inks on the card base to make a pretty background, then added some water splatters and white paint splatters. Added a part of a doily, trimming it to fit perfectly, some jute twine, a sentiment from SSS Sketch Ranunculus stamp set (such beautiful sentiments in this stamp set!) - and finished off with a few sparkling clear Pretty Pink Posh sequins!

Butterfly Anniversary

Good morning! Stopping by with a card I made a little while ago as a special request for a friend. It was for a 75th Anniversary, and needed to have coral and teal and butterflies on it. I was flipping through what I had looking for a good butterfly image, when I found this one from Unity - only it had an extra butterfly over the heart. An anniversary card with three butterflies just seemed weird, so I was going to move on, when my daughter asked why I didn't just take that butterfly off! Brilliant! A bit of masking later, and it was a perfect image!

I used watercolors to color in the image - layered color on for lots of pretty texture and adding splatters, then added Glossy Accents over the butterflies - that was totally the right way to embellish them - they just pop off the card!

Added a jute twine bow, popped it up with foam over a woodgrain paper layer, and that was that!

You are Amazing Flamingo

Good morning! I'm back with another card today using the new Among the Stars release from Simon Says Stamp! I played a lot with the pineapple from the Warm Weather Stamp Set with Matching Dies before - but today I finally popped out that little flamingo that was calling my name too and put together this bright happy card! Doesn't it just scream summer to you?!?!?

I did some ink smooshing on the background with distress inks - originally I was going to do a blue background, but as I was looking through my distress inks, and pulling out Abandoned Coral for the flamingo - Twisted Citron just practically jumped out at me! Totally had to use it for the background, and SOOO glad I did it that way!

The sentiment is from another set I loved and only recently got my hands on called Sketch Ranunculus - I loved the sentiments on it and have a feeling they will be super versatile! Added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins, jute twine, a scallop border and some pretty pattern paper along the bottom, and popped up the flamingo using clear foam adhesive so it wouldn't show!
