Sweet Bunny Card Set

I am finding more and more that I am often very busy with Design Team projects - and just so you know, I absolutely LOVE and ADORE each and every team I am on, and all of their beautiful products! But sometimes I see another cute set that I just HAVE to have, and sometimes it is hard to make time to play with those new things. This little set by Mama Elephant is one example of that, so when I had a few unexpected minutes to play while my kids were doing their homeschool work the other day - AND was caught up on deadlines, I decided to pull this out of my new pile of stuff! (Mother's Day I picked up a few new things, and this was just part of that stack - here's hoping I have more time to play very soon!)

These were a perfect cards to work on intermittently - sometimes I get in the zone, and it's hard to break away and pay attention to other things. These I could just keep slowly working on - partly thanks to my MISTI!

I used my MISTI to stamp and line up everything on each card, then stamped them again on Masking paper and very carefully cut them out. This was the slowest part - but kind of fun and relaxing, since I wasn't in a big rush, and was multi-tasking anyway! :)

I added the masks, then added a row of Post it Tape to mask off the bottom.

I used several different distress inks around the masked images - blending out to a lighter shade at the edges. This is the most luck I've ever had with ink blending I think - and I'm attributing part of it to the paper I used from Simon Says Stamp - super smooth and wonderful for this!

I also splashed on some Shimmer Mist after applying the ink, then let it all dry a bit.

Once I had done all this, I carefully peeled the masks off - I had every intention when I began of coloring those images after I peeled off the masks - but once the masks came off - I fell in LOVE with them the way they were and couldn't bring myself to add any color to them! It was like magic I tell you!

At this point, I decided to die cut them in the scallop frame - perfect finishing touch for the edges!

I added a wrap of jute twine tied in bows around the bottom of them...

...then mounted them with foam adhesive on my card bases that I made from several colors of PTI cardstock that matched up perfectly with my distress ink colors.

Once again - I'm really loving making multiples of cards - but with a slight twist on each one in colors or layout. I figure if I'm already doing the planning and layout of a card, it really isn't any harder to make a few more of them, right? These are definitely a set of cards that I think I'm going to have a very hard time parting with - I almost want to redo them with different sentiments and use them for room decor! Wouldn't they be darling in a nursery? NOT that I am needing to decorate a nursery - good heavens! But a great gift, right? :) :) :)

Also linking this up with the current Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Flowers (a couple of them have little flowers on there!):

Here are links to the products I used on this including affiliate links where possible. Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!!!

  3. This is so sweet, and something that I think I can do after you explained your process so clearly. I do not have stamp coloring skills, so anytime I see a way to NOT color my stamp images, I tuck it away for later. Thanks so much for your inspiration!
